According to Coach Bo Pelini, ‘the recruiting process contradicts what we teach’. He’s referring to the fact that colleges and ideally the recruiting process should teach young men (and I am going to add young women) how to be great people. Agree or disagree, it is true that the current recruiting process can be a little messy. This is the case for both student-athletes and the coaches doing the recruiting. One key to cleaning up the process and making it more sincere is to teach the students how to truly make a decision that will influence the rest of their lives.
